Property Settlements & Consent Orders

The Family Law Act sets out how a couple’s property is divided when a marriage or de facto relationship has broken down.

The property settlement process is complicated.  We will assist and negotiate with your former partner for a financial and property settlement.

We will draft the Consent Orders and submit to the Court.

It involves the identification and valuation of the relationship property and then a determination of the appropriate “percentage division” between the couple.

The Family Law Act sets out how the percentages are determined.

We assist with  fierce litigation if the matter is not resolved through negotiation.

Grandparents rights and Family Law

Under the Family Law Act , a child has right to see their parents and other family members.

what if the grandparents find themselves excluded from the grandchild’s life?

Grandparents have the right to make an application to the Family court for time with grandchildren.

Under the legislation they may apply for orders to ‘spend time’ with children or to have children ‘live with’ them.
